Chelsea are back in Conference League action on Thursday evening, taking on Copenhagen in a round of 16 first-leg tie.

The Blues made easy work of the revamped league phase, winning all six matches to top the group and avoid a two-legged playoff tie in the process.

Enzo Maresca’s side remain heavy favourites to win the whole competition and they will arrive in Denmark on the back of a much-needed 4-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League last time out.

Although, the Blues have struggled on the road of late, losing their last four away matches in a row across all competition with their last success outside of London coming against Astana back in December.

Copenhagen, meanwhile, lost at home to Heidenheim in the first-leg of their knockout playoff tie but produced an impressive comeback in the return fixture to progress after extra-time and set up a clash against Chelsea.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Copenhagen vs Chelsea is scheduled for a 5.45pm GMT kick-off on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

The match will take place at the Parken Stadium.

Copenhagen vs Chelsea team news

Copenhagen will turn to the likes of Thomas Delaney and Mohamed Elyounoussi (formerly of Sevilla and Southampton respectively) to get a result against Chelsea. However, talented youngster Roony Bardghji is absent as he recovers from a cruciate ligament tear.

Maresca has used the Conference League this season to rotate his Chelsea squad and is likely to do so once again even with a host of absentees.

Wesley Fofana is in line to make his return to action after being sidelined since December, but Cole Palmer might be rested despite now being eligible to play in the competition.

Copenhagen vs Chelsea prediction

Chelsea are expected to get through the tie, but this first-leg looks a tricky fixture to navigate because of their away from. Copenhagen beat Manchester United at home in the Champions League last season, so they can’t be taken lightly.

The Danes are a step up in quality compared to what the Blues have faced so far in the competition and a rotated side could very well come unstuck, especially away from home.
